Custom Type C USB Drives
Custom Type C USB Drives
Type C USB drives branded with a logo are one of the few promotional technology items that stay genuinely useful to the recipient long after the event they were given at. The connector format is current — Type C is what most laptops, tablets, and phones ship with now — which means the drive gets used rather than sitting in a drawer waiting for the right cable. The range covers a wide spread of body formats: metal swivel and sliding drives, rubberised and hard plastic cases, slim wooden bodies, leather-wrapped formats for more considered gifting, and dual-connector styles that carry both Type C and USB-A ends for recipients who still use both port types. All drives are built on A Grade chips running at up to 480 Mbps with a 10-year data retention warranty — the specification behind the branding is as considered as the branding itself.
A law firm giving branded Type C drives to new clients loaded with the engagement letter, fee schedule, and firm overview lands the onboarding documentation in a format the client will keep rather than search for in an email thread six months later. The drive stays on the client's desk; the firm's name stays visible.
Three branding methods are available across the range: UV print for full-colour reproduction on plastic and rubberised surfaces, laser engraving for a permanent mark on metal and wooden bodies, and screen print for single or limited-colour applications across most formats. The method is matched to the body material — each format has a recommended approach that produces the cleanest, most durable result.
Good to Know
What is a Type C USB drive — and how is it different from the USB drives I've always ordered?
The difference is the connector shape. Older USB drives use a rectangular USB-A plug that only fits one way into a standard port. Type C uses a smaller, oval connector that plugs in either way and fits the ports on most current laptops, phones, and tablets. If your recipients are using modern devices, a Type C drive works without an adaptor — which is increasingly not the case with a standard USB-A drive.
Can we have our logo engraved rather than printed — and does it last better?
Yes — laser engraving is available on metal and wooden body formats and produces a permanent, recessed mark that can't be worn, peeled, or scratched off over time. Printed logos on plastic surfaces hold well with UV print but are more susceptible to wear with heavy daily use. For a drive being used as a premium client gift or a long-term desk item, engraving on a metal or wooden body is the more durable choice.
Can content be preloaded onto the drives before they're sent out?
Yes — preloading is available and is a practical choice for onboarding packs, conference distributions, and media kits. The content is loaded before dispatch so recipients have everything on the drive from the moment they receive it, without a download step. Preload file formats, sizes, and any read-only or autorun requirements are discussed at the order stage.
What does the 10-year data retention warranty actually cover?
It means the chip is certified to retain stored data for a minimum of ten years under normal use conditions. This is a function of using A Grade chips — lower-grade cells used in cheaper drives carry no such guarantee and can lose data within a few years through cell degradation. For a client or employee who stores important files on a branded drive and keeps it long term, this warranty is the reason the drive stays useful rather than becoming unreliable.
